Troubleshooting Nugget iOS
Solutions for common issues and how to fix them.
Device Not Detected
If Nugget doesn't recognize your connected iPhone or iPad, try these solutions:
1. Check Your Cable
- Use an official Apple cable or certified MFi cable
- Try a different USB cable - cheap cables often cause issues
- Make sure the cable supports data transfer, not just charging
2. Check USB Port
- Try a different USB port on your computer
- USB 2.0 ports often work better than USB 3.0
- Avoid USB hubs - connect directly to your computer
3. Trust the Computer
- When you connect, tap "Trust" on your device
- Enter your passcode when prompted
- If no prompt appears, reset trust: Settings → General → Transfer or Reset → Reset Location & Privacy
4. Install Required Drivers (Windows)
- Install iTunes from Apple's website (not Microsoft Store)
- Restart your computer after installing iTunes
- Check Device Manager for any driver issues
5. Install Xcode Tools (Mac)
- Run:
xcode-select --install - Restart your Mac after installation
6. Restart Everything
- Close Nugget completely
- Restart your computer
- Restart your iPhone/iPad
- Reconnect and try again
Apply Process Fails
If the apply process fails, crashes, or gets stuck:
Disable Find My iPhone
Go to Settings → [Your Name] → Find My → Find My iPhone and turn it off temporarily. Re-enable after applying changes.
Ensure Sufficient Battery
Your device should have at least 20% battery. Better yet, keep it plugged in during the process.
Close Other Applications
Close iTunes, Finder, and any other apps that might access your device. Only Nugget should be connected.
Free Up Storage
Nugget needs space to create temporary backups. Make sure you have at least 1-2GB free on your device.
Try Fewer Changes at Once
If applying many changes at once, try enabling just one or two settings at a time.
Changes Not Appearing
If the apply process completes but changes don't appear:
Force Restart Your Device
Sometimes a respring isn't enough. Do a force restart:
- iPhone 8+: Volume Up, Volume Down, then hold Side button
- iPhone 7: Hold Volume Down + Side button
Verify iOS Version Compatibility
Some features only work on specific iOS versions. Check the compatibility page to confirm your iOS version supports the feature.
Reapply the Changes
Try disabling the setting, applying, then enabling it again and applying once more.
Device Stuck or Bootloop
Don't Panic!
Nugget modifications are generally safe and reversible. Your data is not at risk.
1. Force Restart
Try a force restart first. This resolves most temporary issues.
2. Wait It Out
Sometimes the device needs a few minutes to complete the restore process. If stuck on the Apple logo, wait 5-10 minutes.
3. Restore via Nugget
If your device boots to the lock screen, connect to Nugget and disable all modifications, then apply to reset to stock.
4. Recovery Mode Restore (Last Resort)
If nothing else works, restore via iTunes/Finder:
- Put device in Recovery Mode
- Connect to iTunes/Finder
- Choose "Update" (not Restore) to keep your data
Note: "Restore" will erase your data. Always try "Update" first.
Feature Not Available
If a feature is grayed out or missing in Nugget:
Check iOS Version
MobileGestalt features (Dynamic Island, device spoofing) only work on iOS 17.0 - 18.1.1. They're not available on iOS 18.2+.
Update Nugget
Make sure you have the latest version of Nugget from the official GitHub.
Check Device Compatibility
Some features require specific hardware. For example, Dynamic Island makes sense only on Face ID devices.
Changes Reverted After iOS Update
iOS updates often reset Nugget modifications. This is normal and expected.
After Updating iOS
- Check if the new iOS version is still supported by Nugget
- Update Nugget to the latest version if available
- Reconnect your device and reapply your preferred settings
⚠️ Before Updating iOS
Always check if the new iOS version is supported before updating. Apple often patches the exploits Nugget uses, especially in point releases.
Common Error Messages
"Could not connect to device"
Check cable, drivers, and trust settings. See the "Device Not Detected" section above.
"Backup failed"
Free up storage space on both your device and computer. Disable Find My iPhone.
"Restore failed"
Usually caused by Find My being enabled, insufficient storage, or an interrupted connection. Retry after addressing these.
"Unsupported iOS version"
Your iOS version isn't supported. Check the compatibility page for supported versions.
"Permission denied" (Mac/Linux)
Try running Nugget with administrator/sudo privileges, or check file permissions.
